Frequently Asked Questions

Question

Are Androbalance tests kits able to tell me if I have andropause?

Answer

There are several issues here. Firstly, the very existence of andropause (age related decline in T) is contested and is currently open to vigorous debate in medical circles. The interest, (or lack thereof), that your Doctor takes in your case may be influenced by his stance on andropause and the therapeutic uses of testosterone. Secondly, Androbalance test kits should not be relied upon as the sole diagnostic tool for investigation of hypogonadism, whether age related or not. The same is true of most other laboratory investigations.

Investigation of endocrine disorders is a complex process. Androbalance test kits can be a useful first step along this path, and they are a useful monitoring tool to evaluate the efficacy of hormonal modulation programs. However, investigation of hypogonadism and andropause requires extensive laboratory analysis supported by detailed physical assessment of the patient by a physician. Most importantly, the results of these assessments must be interpreted within the context of clinical symptoms by a Doctor with specialist knowledge in andrology.
