Cortisol is secreted in a circadian rhythm with high morning peaks and lower evening values. Single point serum measurements are unable to describe this circadian rhythm and may themselves cause bias due to the stress induced by phlebotomy. Our salivary tests kits circumvent these difficulties.
Androbalance adrenal function kits can detect overt adrenal malunction such as Cushing's disease and Addison's disease. They are also able to detect signs of subtle adrenal maladaption as indicated by disruptions in the normal circadian rhythm of cortisol secretion. Blunted early morning cortisol peaks and relatively high evening levels can be indicative of a hypothalamic pitutary adrenal axis that has been subjected to repeated or chronic stress. Detection of these patterns allows the implementation of lifestyle changes, and nutraceutical or pharmaceutical interventions to restore optimal adrenal function.
In addition to being a useful clinical tool for detection of adrenal malfunction this kit is a valuable resource for monitoring glucocorticoid and DHEA replacement therapy. Regular testing facilitates accurate titration of dosages to achieve maximal clinical benefit. Dosage adjustments must only be made with the express permission of your Doctor.
Please note that all the samples must be submitted at the same time. Hormones in frozen saliva are stable for several months so please freeze samples until they are ready for submission.
