There is considerable interplay between the hypothalamic pituitary testicular axis (HPTA) and the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis. This comprehensive suite of determinands allows accurate assessment of both adrenal and gonadal function.

Over and under secretion of cortisol can have multiple deleterious effects upon the body. Furthermore, elevated cortisol levels inhibit testosterone production through several mechanisms. Moreover, the reduced levels of DHEA that often accompany hypoadrenia can deplete the pool of androgenic precursors available for intracellular conversion to testosterone. Hence, depleted adrenal function, besides being a problem in and of itself, can have a significant deleterious impact upon testosterone production.

Use this kit to assess the integrity of adrenal function and to gain insight into how levels of cortisol and DHEA may be adversely affecting production of male sex hormones.

Please note that all the samples must be submitted at the same time. Hormones in frozen saliva are stable for several months so please freeze samples until they are ready for submission.
